Excellent Tour. Great tour guide.
Journey from Sapporo all the way to Osaka.
If you don't like unusual food this is not the tour for you! Also most shrines involve steps and uneven ground. That said, it's a beautiful country.

A very full on holiday, you must be reasonable fit as they are a lot of climbing and walking at the castles

Our tour guide, Emiko, was fabulous. I learned so much history and heard the many stories/fables associated with places around Japan. She was very helpful and answered so many questions from our group with a smile on her face the whole time.
I visited well-known places and areas that I hadn't heard of before, which was a good mix. There are lots of temples and shrines in Japan.
On Miyajima Island, near Hiroshima, there are wild deer wandering around. They are very aggressive. I was walking back to the ferry with a gelato & a deer bit my trousers, then jumped on me, then bit me on the hip (it left teeth marks) to get to my gelato. It was a scary & painful experience, unfortunately. I'm relating this in the review for people to be aware not to walk around with any food & be wary of the deer.
The tea ceremony and making washi paper were fun experiences.
I have unusual dietary requirements and although the restaurants are told ahead of time, they usually were not very good at giving me food without the items that I couldn't eat. Sometimes they tried to substitute foods for me. One restaurant substituted a bread roll with porridge! If you can eat anything, you'll have no problems. If you can't, bring snacks for yourself.
There are usually convenience stores near the hotels, so you can also buy food there.
The hotels were very nice and comfortable and in good locations. All had a buffet breakfast of both Japanese and Western style foods.
The coaches that transported us around had lovely drivers and were comfortable, although none of them had toilets. But we did make stop at services along our routes, which were really great.
Japan is a very clean country with the cleanest public toilets that I've ever seen.

It’s very full on, but very well organised, our tour guide was great.
I would recommend flying two days before tour begins as we flew day before our flight was delayed, on arrival to the first hotel after27 hours of travel we were rushed into the welcome meal, didn’t have time to refresh, the meal was very good as was all the food.
The tour takes you from one end of Japan to the other, if there is anything you want to see which isn’t included in the tour, there isn’t much free time but our guide was very helpful to organise anything else for you.

The tour was value for money. The organisation before and during the tour was excellent. The hotels and restaurants chosen were all good. Perhaps a bit of free time would have been beneficial.

We had an excellent guide EMI,who shared her extensive knowledge of her country which made a great holiday a wonderful experience shared with a fantastic group of people.

Both guides for China ( Ryan) and Japan ( Hiroshi) were amazing. Looked after the group well and extremely helpful in assisting especially with diet requirements as much as they were able to

Saw lots of interesting places.
Hotels in Japan were not up to the standard of China which surprised us.
Very small rooms , not well appointed ( especially the bathrooms) and extremely crowded.. waiting for a lift or question for breakfast in Japan was frustrating.

Bring Coeliac on these countries was exceptionally challenging. Options were very limited and understanding of cross contamination very poor. Breakfast options were also limited due to it always being a buffet. Not all places were able to cook uncontaminated food.
Have translations available but still difficult.

Traveled on bus, trains. Planes, boats , cable cars
Learnt a lot about the history and also the current lifestyle..
Great mix of people on the tour who all got on well together and looked out for each other.

Excellent organisation throughout. At 72 years old I found the pace very good, occaionally hard work. Some of the castle stairs were very steep...upto 61 degrees!
Some fair distances covered by coach but itinerary and breaks were well planned.

Although it was a level 1, it was very strenuous for me, especially after a 14 hour flight. But this was probably my fault. I had a stroke 4 years ago which had left me weaker than I realised. Other members of the group were very helpful and tolerant of my condition, often offering me an arm on long walks. I was lucky to get such a nice group.
Our guide was very good and a great deal was packed into this short tour, which gave me a taste of Japan. If I was younger I’d love to spend more time there, but at nearly 80 I think I should stick to nearer destinations for the future… or if I hadn’t had a stroke I would have done much better. So as a taster this was excellent but probably too much for an old biddy! I highly recommend the tour to any fit person who wants a glimpse of Japan!

Covers a lot of ground and sights. A little hectic at times.

Fabulous itinerary and we were very lucky with the weather. Only one day of rain ( late Sept '26 ) Lucky enough to see all the major sights in brilliant sunshine. To see the massive spectacle of Mt. Fuji with a beautiful collar of cloud was breathtaking to say the least. A very full-on trip. Tiring but the group of 28 made it and everyone got on so well together. Our guides English was something that took a while to tune into and her understanding of questions from the group needed a bit of tweaking but she did her job adequately. This was outweighed by the brilliant fun and humour of the group and the itinerary was as I have said top notch so not a huge problem.

Very busy holiday. But you certainly get a taste of Japan. Bonus that all meals are included and are very good with a good range of local and international dishes
