In Pursuit of Wellness in China

In Chinese medicine, the key to your health and wellbeing is keeping your ‘qi’ balanced; many of the ancient practices prescribed to help keep this equilibrium are still alive today.

Be among the very first Western travellers to discover this emerging wellness destination, gaining rare access to authentic healing traditions in a way few travellers ever do.

Over seven immersive days, you'll be guided through a rich blend of healing traditions: from qigong forms like Ba Duan Jin and Wu Qin Xi, to reflexology, pulse diagnosis and acupoint massage at a traditional Chinese medicine centre, each led by an expert master or practitioner. Alongside this, Reiki master Peter Hui will guide you through your own personal attunement. Chongqing is known as the City of Longevity, Mountain City and Capital of Hot Springs. Travel to Jiuli City to absorb the essence of nature and heaven and earth. You'll even discover the distinct medicine traditions of the Miao ethnic minority. Learn with renowned Reiki Master Peter to channel healing energy for yourself and others.

Beyond the wellness practices, you'll explore the striking contrasts of Chongqing and its surroundings, a city where futuristic skylines meet centuries-old heritage, hot springs meet high-speed bullet trains, and ancient teahouses sit alongside dazzling drone light shows. It's a journey to restore balance within yourself, while discovering one of China's most captivating and contrast-filled regions.

Day 3: Gentle wellness exercise, Reiki attunement and TCM

Begin the day with a master who will begin to teach you 'Ba Duan Jin', a form of traditional qigong therapeutic exercise, that features a series of eight gentle movements, followed by a guided meditation session. Next, will be a presentation with Peter and Mandy to introduce reiki practice. Peter's own reiki journey began by chance in the early 1990s in Hawaii, where a meeting with a visiting Reiki Master set him on a decades-long path of practice alongside his wife, Mandy, culminating in Peter becoming a Reiki Master himself. Once you've heard his story, you'll be grouped ready for the next stage of the process. Group A will spend the morning in the hotel to have their individual attunement with Peter, to open the body's pathways to allow it to channel healing energy, while Group B will head out to a traditional Chinese medicine centre, experience pulse diagnosis, ear seeding and traditional Chinese acupoint massage. After lunch, the groups will swap. Tonight, bathe in one of Chongqing's plentiful hot springs to soak up the benefits of the mineral-rich waters.
