See China in all its Splendor – Travel Planning Tips

With its wide diversity of climates, landscapes, and cultures, China can provide so many interesting stops that it would be hard to fit them into just one trip. If you are limited in vacation time and want to make the most of your visit to China, it can be extremely helpful to take some time to carefully plan your itinerary. While travel conditions cannot be guaranteed, there are a few tips we can offer in planning your trip to help you capture the scenic beauty, cultural diversity, and rich history that China has to share.

Wendy Wu Tours, a leading tourism coordinator for memorable trips to China, recommends a few key considerations to keep in mind when making your travel plans:

Time of Year

China is known for the broad spectrum of climates that can be experienced across the span of the country throughout the year. Varying landscapes and altitudes can make it possible to experience substantial changes in temperature and humidity throughout your visit. Generally though, the winters in China are cold and often harsh while the summers can be extremely hot.

China has captivated visitors year round, but there are certainly seasons that provide the most comfortable temperatures and humidity. Most travel planners for tourism in China agree that late Spring (May) and early Fall (September) generally offer the ideal climate conditions for seeing all the beauty China has to offer.

While climate is an important factor to consider when making your plans to visit China, it is also important to consider the high traffic times of year in the areas you plan to visit. Highly congested tourist areas can be overwhelming for many travelers and can detract from the entire experience. The high seasons in China are generally centered on national or school holidays, but they often fall within those optimal travel months in the spring and fall. During China’s high season, it can be nearly impossible to find accommodations and transportation, and prices for tour guides, attractions admission, and event tickets can be highly inflated. It also has to be mentioned that general congestion during those high seasons in China can be very challenging for the average visitor.

High Travel Seasons in China:

·         Labor Day Holiday (May 1, long weekend)

·         National Day Holiday (October 1, seven days)

·         University Holidays – Summer (June – September) and Winter (January- February)

Budget

A trip to China could be a once in a lifetime experience for some visitors, while others may return regularly to further their experiences. There are endless possibilities for an amazing visit to China! If your travel budget allows, it can be extremely beneficial to turn your trip plans over to a knowledgeable travel coordinator that specializes in group and private tours to China. This will ensure that you can make the most of your time and resources while guaranteeing an experience that meets your expectations. A tailor made tour can take the stress out of your China visit. Whether you plan to work with a tour operator or will be planning your adventure on your own, it is important to consider the high and low season timing that was previously mentioned. Not only are the crowds smaller during the off season, it is easier and less expensive to secure transportation, lodging, and touring accommodations.

Destinations

Tied into the planning of your China trip would be the identification of some key areas of the country you hope to visit. China is a large country with a diverse mix of scenery, cultures, and history to explore. It is not likely that you will capture the true essence of China in just one visit, but with a little planning, you can be sure to explore as many locations as your time allows. You can participate in all inclusive group tour, like Wendy Wu’s Wonders of China tour, or select a private tour that has been tailored for your interests and budget.

To get started in your destination planning, it can be helpful to select a focus for your experience. By asking yourself and your travel companions some simple questions, you can start narrowing in on some cities, sites, and activities to take in while you are visiting China. To get you started, here are a few areas to give some thought:

  • Do you enjoy soaking up the great outdoors and enjoying beautiful scenery?
  • Are you fascinated by the history of an area?
  • Do you enjoy experiencing a culture by trying new foods, exploring community life, and joining in on area festivals and events?
  • Do you want an active experience that includes hiking, biking, boating, or other physical activities?
  • What climates are you most comfortable in?
  • Are you interested in experiencing visual or performing arts when you travel?
  • Are there any “must see” destinations you are looking forward to?

Answers to these questions can assist you or your travel coordinator in selecting the best mix of activities and destinations to make your trip to China a success. With so many interesting landscapes, traditions, and cultures to experience, China can provide a truly unique vacation.
