The Tibetan Trails private tour provides a carefully designed balance of natural beauty and time honored traditions. The tour includes a visit to the famous Panda Reserve in Chengdu, where you can observe the magnificent animals in a protected environment. You will also see the world’s largest stone-carved Buddha at Leshan. Tibet is called the 'Roof of the World', with breathtaking vistas at Lhasa, Gyantse and Shigatse. As an option, you can even take this opportunity to make an unforgettable visit to the Mt. Everest Base Camp.
This private tour is personal and individual with private tour guides, private car and chauffeur. You may travel on any date and have a choice of accommodations. Travel is at your own pace and there is flexibility while touring. This itinerary is ideal as an intimate tour for couples, great for family travel and perfect for private groups.
This tour reaches an altitude of 13,000ft at Gyantse with higher altitudes reached while traveling. Mt. Everest Base Camp is at 18,200ft.
Days 1-2 : US – Chengdu
Fly overnight to Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province.
Day 3 : Pandas & Buddha Day Tour
Visit the famous Panda Reserve to see these adorable animals being reared in wooded surroundings reminiscent of their natural habitat. Later, travel to Leshan to visit the remarkable Grand Buddha, the world’s largest stone carved Buddhist statue. Take a short boat trip to view the statue from the river. Later, return to Chengdu (B,L)
Day 4 : Chengdu – Lhasa
Fly to Lhasa and visit the Drepung Monastery, which dates back to the 15th century and in its full glory was one of the biggest Monasteries in the region. (B)
Day 5 : Lhasa
Explore the ‘crown jewel’ of Tibet – the Potala Palace. The palace is an architectural wonder that towers over the city with thousands of rooms filled with treasures such as intricate shrines and beautiful frescoes. Also stroll around the Barkhor circuit and visit the 7th century Jokhang Temple, which is the most sacred in Tibet and the Sera Monastery, which has about 600 monks in residence. (B,L)
Day 6 : Lhasa – Gyantse
Travel to the smaller town of Gyantse. Visit the unique Pelkor Monastery and the magnificent ruins of the Old Fort. (B,L)
Day 7 : Gyantse – Shigatse
Travel to Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet and explore the busy cobbled lanes which meander around the ancient buildings. Visit the Tashilhunpo Monastery, the traditional residence of the Panchen Lama. (B,L)
Day 8-9 : Shigatse – Lhasa
Return to Lhasa. The afternoon and following day are reserved for leisure. (B)
Day 10 : Lhasa - Chengdu
Fly to Chengdu. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. (B)
Day 11 : Chengdu – US
Fly to the US, arriving home later the same day or the following morning. (B)

Everest Base Camp Option
The Everest Base Camp Option modifies the Tibetan Trails Private Tour in the following way:
Day 8: Gyantse - Shigatse - Rongbuk
Travel to Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet and visit the Tashilhunpo Monastery. Continue to Rongbuk where you will stay at a very basic guesthouse. (B,L)
Day 9: Rongbuk - Shigatse
Visit Mt Everest Base Camp and gaze up to the peak at 29,028ft (weather permitting). Mingle with climbers making an attempt on the summit and maybe take a walk to Rhongpu Glacier. Later return to Shigatse. (B,L)
Days 10-12 Shigatse - US
As days 9-11 of the standard itinerary.
Everest Base Camp is at 18,200ft.

Begin with a ferry ride across the Victoria Harbour to Silvermine Bay to visit beautiful Cheung Sha beach and Tai O Fishing Village. Then travel to Ngong Ping Plateau to see the Giant Buddha and explore Po Lin Monastery where you'll enjoy a vegetarian lunch. Later, visit Ngong Ping Village before a ride aboard the Skyrail cable car. (B,L) If the cable car is canceled due to weather or any other reason, alternative transportation will be arranged.
Day 4: Depart Hong Kong
