Depart on your overnight flight from the US to China. Upon arrival in Shanghai, we are welcomed by our Wendy Wu representative and transferred to our hotel.
Days 3 - 4 : Shanghai
Visit the Yu Gardens and Old Town before admiring the colonial architecture along the Bund and the modern marvels of Pudong. Enjoy an evening Huangpu River cruise. The next day explore the fine arts of the Shanghai Museum and the 1920s architecture of Xintiandi. Fly to Tunxi.
Days 5 - 6 : Mt. Huang to Tunxi
An endless source of inspiration in Chinese art and literature, Mt Huang is an area of towering peaks, crowned by ancient trees whose green foliage contrasts starkly against grey granite and swirling mists. You will spend two nights here, one at the summit and one in Tunxi at the foot of the mountain, soaking up the extraordinary views.
Days 7 - 9 : Zhangjiajie
Fly to Changsha, capital of Hunan province. Continue by road to the breathtaking scenery of Zhangjiajie. A scenic area of over 3000 sandstone pillars, rising from misty folds of subtropical forest and cloaked in vibrant green vegetation, Zhangjiajie’s striking beauty is unforgettable. Ravines and gorges, streams and waterfalls and a plethora of endangered plants and animal species complete this idyllic scene. Spend the last day here at leisure before a late flight to Chongqing.
Days 10 - 11 : Chongqing
See the sights of port city Chongqing including old Ciqikou, whose narrow streets are perfect for a stroll to admire the historic, traditional architecture, the traditional Erlin Gardens and the General Stilwell Museum. The next day, visit Black Mountain Valley. Wander the wooded paths that run along the bottom of this picturesque gorge, happening upon rushing streams, waterfalls and local flora and fauna as we go. Continue to Wulong.
Days 11 - 13 : Wulong
The Wulong area is well-known for its majestic karst landscapes. Admire Three Natural Bridges, high limestone arches which loom high over a deepgorge and walk through the Longshuixia Fissure, a deep and narrow valley formed by a collapsed cave. The next day, explorations include a visit to the Furong Cave. Drive back to Chongqing.
Days 14 - 17 : Nine Villages Valley
Fly to Nine Villages Valley, a national park of ragged peaks, sapphire lakes, abundant forest and rushing waterfalls, considered one of China’s most beautiful areas. While the scenery transforms with the seasons, it is always spectacular. A highlight of our time here includes the hundreds of vivid Huanglong Pools in rainbow colors, formed by thousands of years of mineral deposits. The whole area, studded with waterfalls and hot springs remains relatively undiscovered and is a pleasure to explore. There is an option to take the cable car or walk up to Huanglong Temple at the head of the valley. Fly to Chengdu.
Days 18 - 19 : Chengdu
Visit Chengdu’s famous Panda Conservation Center where you can get up close to China’s celebrated bears in surroundings that are reminiscent of their natural habitat. For your farewell dinner, sample the delicious Sichuan cuisine before your flight home the following day.
