Your tour will take you to a part of China that is unknown to many Westerners, the amazing Nine Villages Valley, described by Wendy Wu as one of the most beautiful places she has ever seen. The summit of Mt. Huang is often referred to by locals as an ink scroll painting come to life. Embark on a photographer’s dream journey to Zhangjiajie and this year, we introduce Black Mountain Valley.

Dasy 1 : Depart the US
Depart from the US to the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai on an overnight flight from the US to Shanghai, China.
Day 2 : Arrive Shanghai
Upon arrival in Shanghai, friendly Wendy Wu staff will meet you and transfer you to your hotel where your ‘Dreams of Nature’ group joins up and your vacation to China begins.
Day 3 : Shangha
Sightseeing today includes a stroll through the traditional Yu Gardens and the Old Town of Shanghai, China. Walk along the famous Bund with its colonial architecture and visit the modern Pudong area. In the evening, enjoy a cruise on the panoramic Huangpu River.
Day 4 : Shanghai to Mt. Huang
Visit the Shanghai Museum which houses 120,000 pieces of bronze, coins, jade ceramics, paintings and calligraphy. Also explore the restored Xintiandi area with its unique 1920’s style shikumen buildings. In the evening, board the overnight train to Mt. Huang, one of China’s most stunning locations and one of the natural wonders of the world.
Day 5 : Mt Huang
Arrive at Mt. Huang this morning. Take a cable car to the summit to enjoy the spectacular views of the oddly shaped peaks, rock formations, thousand year old pine trees and mysterious ever changing mist, all of which have inspired local artists for centuries and encompasses dreams of nature.
Day 6 : Mt. Huang to Tunxi
Take the cable car back down to the base of the mountain and explore the ancient town of Tunxi with its age-old shop signs and Hui style wood carvings found on buildings on the Tunxi Ancient Street.
Day 7 : Tunxi to Zhangjiajie
Transfer to Huangshan Airport and fly to Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province in China. Continue by road to Zhangjiajie, said to be the inspiration for the scenery in the film Avatar.
Day 8 : Zhangjiajie
Today we will embark on a photographer’s dream journey. Enjoy breath-taking scenery exploring the UNESCO- listed Zhangjiajie area, which offers a mix of spectacular limestone formations, sub-tropical forests, waterfalls, mountain ranges and majestic valleys.
Day 9 : Zhangjiajie to Chongqing
Spend the day exploring and photographing more of this striking area of China before your group boards a late evening flight to Chongqing.*
Day 10 : Chongqing
Explore the city of Chongqing visiting the historical area of Ciqikou, the traditional Erlin Gardens and the General Stilwell Museum. This will be a more relaxing day, allowing us to recharge our batteries
Day 11 : Chongqing to Wulong
Visit Black Mountain (Heishan) Valley and follow a path through the spectacular gorge where you are immersed in the natural beauty of this picturesque area with its rushing streams, waterfalls and lush vegetation. Continue by road to Wulong.
Day 12 : Wulong
Spend the day walking in some of the most fascinating scenery in China. Visit the Three Bridges National Park, which features some of the highest natural arches in the world. Here the group walks down into the valley and below these impressive formations. We also trek through the Longshuixia Fissure, a deep and narrow valley with sheer cliffs.
Day 13 : Wulong to Chongqing
Spend the morning taking a further scenic walk in the Wulong area. In the afternoon visit Furong Cave to see the illuminated stalactites and stalagmites. The group returns to Chongqing by road.
Day 14 : Chongqing to Nine Villages Valley
Fly to the breath-taking Nine Villages Valley (Jiuzhaigou), a Chinese botanical gallery that is heavily forested and home to many protected species. Entering the Chinese valley is like being transported into a different world, where crystal clear lakes gather at the foot of every waterfall and rich dense forests are dotted with colorful flowers. Relatively untouched since the government discovered the area in the 1970s, the entire valley presents a seemingly never-ending display of stunning natural scenery that will inspire any budding photographer.
Days 15 - 16 : Nine Villages Valley
We step into the valley where we will walk through the amazing scenery stopping at various waterfalls and scenic viewpoints. We uncover natural treasures throughout these two days, seeing various birds and endangered plant and animal species. More than just beautiful scenery, we will also come upon the Tibetan villages the valley gets its name from.
Day 17 : Nine Villages Valley to Chengdu
Travel by coach to Huanglong, which is renowned for its hundreds of sparkling mineral pools where beautiful colors intertwine and the waters cascade down the mountainside. We have the option to take a cable car or walk past the many waterfalls to visit Huanglong Temple. Later, fly to Chengdu.
Day 18 : Chengdu
Visit the famous Panda Reserve to see these adorable animals being reared in wooded surroundings reminiscent of their natural habitat. As an option, you may enter a panda enclosure with one of the keepers and become involved with the daily care of one of the animals (at additional cost and must be booked in advance). Also see the historical side of the city with a visit to Wuhou Temple, the surrounding Nanjiao Park and ancient Jinli Street. Enjoy a delicious local Chinese Sichuan meal in the evening.
Day 19 : Depart Chengdu
Fly to the US, arriving home later the same day or the following morning depending on flight schedules.
