Chinas Garden Route

Combine the excitement of Shanghai’s vitality and busyness with the gentler pace of the smaller towns of Suzhou and Hangzhou which live up to their name of "Paradise on earth”. Visit the finest oriental gardens in Suzhou and cruise the Grand Canal before travelling to Hangzhou. Learn about the workings of a silk factory, visit an ancient temple and explore a rural tea plantation for a taste of the real China.

Days 1-2 : US – Shanghai

Fly to the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai, also known as the ‘Paris of the East’. Arrive the following day.

Day 3 : Shanghai

Sightseeing today includes a stroll through the beautiful Yu Gardens and the Old Town as well as a visit to see the antiquities and fine arts of the Shanghai Museum, which houses over 120,000 pieces of bronze, coins, jade, ceramics, paintings and calligraphy. Also walk along the famous Bund with its colonial architecture. (B,L)

Day 4 : Shanghai – Suzhou

Travel to the charming garden city of Suzhou, also known as the ‘Venice of the East’. Suzhou is famous for its canals, exquisite landscaped gardens and is also centre of China's silk industry. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. (B)

Day 5 : Suzhou

Visit two of the finest oriental gardens: the Humble Administrator’s Garden and the Garden of the Master of the Nets. Also enjoy a cruise on the ancient Grand Canal. (B,L)

Day 6 : Suzhou – Hangzhou

Travel to beautiful Hangzhou, one of China’s former imperial capitals, which is renowned for its stunning natural scenery. Visit the local markets and experience an oriental tea-tasting. (B,L)

Day 7 : Hangzhou

Sightseeing today includes a visit to the Temple of Inspired Seclusion and the Six Harmonies Pagoda before a relaxing cruise on the tranquil West Lake. (B,L)

Day 8 : Hangzhou – Shanghai

Return to Shanghai. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. (B)

Day 9 : Shanghai – US

Fly to the UK, arriving home later the same day or the following morning depending on airline chosen. (B)

    Day 1: Arrive Hong Kong
    Transfer to your hotel.

    Day 2: Hong Kong
    Enjoy a half day island tour visiting Victoria Peak, Stanley Market, Aberdeen Fishing Village and an optional sampan ride (paid locally). The afternoon is at leisure. (B)

    Day 3: Lantau Island
    Begin with a ferry ride across the Victoria Harbour to Silvermine Bay to visit beautiful Cheung Sha beach and Tai O Fishing Village. Then travel to Ngong Ping Plateau to see the Giant Buddha and explore Po Lin Monastery where you'll enjoy a vegetarian lunch. Later, visit Ngong Ping Village before a ride aboard the Skyrail cable car. (B,L) If the cable car is canceled due to weather or any other reason, alternative transportation will be arranged.

    Day 4: Depart Hong Kong
